23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 35:4-7, Ps 146, James 2:1-5, Mark 7:31-37

Today we have the privilege of witnessing a miracle, one which takes place in the Gospel. A miracle can be seen as an outward display that points to a deeper meaning. Today’s miracle is characterized by the word “Ephphatha” which means “Be opened”.

Today’s homily is preached by Fr. Jon Hansen, C.Ss.R. the pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.

In the Gospel miracle a man’s deaf ears were opened to hearing and his mute tounge was freed to speak.

Where in your life do you need to be opened?

What do your eyes need to see?

What do your ears need to hear?

What does your heart need to feel?
